The Outlawz Platoon, part of C Company, 1-1 BSTB, deployed from Ft. Riley, Kansas, to FOB Warrior, near Karkuk in northern Iraq. The group deployed in October 2010 and returned to the US in October of 2011.
The primary assignment for the Outlawz Platoon was to patrol and search for IEDs and bombs set by the terrorists operating in Northern Iraq. Traveling over 12,000 K's, the members completed over 70 joint missions with the Iraqis and 50 independent missions. As part of their assignments, they also made Presence Patrols in key cities, along with observation patrol.The group also assisted in training of Iraqi troops to prepare them for military operations upon the withdrawal of American troops.
